Inter Collegiate Swami Vivekanand Elocution Competition organized at SMPIC

To commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand, SMPIC organized  Inter Collegiate Swami Vivekanand Elocution Competition for various Commerce/Arts/BBA and BCA  colleges of  Ahmedabad on 12th January 2013. Around 18 participants spoke on the topic“The Indian Youth of Today…a lost generation or a promising one”. The competition was judged by Prof. Arun Yardi and Dr. Pranav Joshipura. The winning institute was awarded the rotating trophy.

State Level Accounting Talent Hunt and Commerce Talent Hunt 2013

S. M. Patel Institute of Commerce and Indian Accounting Association (Gujarat Branch) jointly organized  3rd state level Accounting Talent Hunt for college students and  2nd state level Commerce Talent Hunt for higher secondary commerce students on 9th February,2013. Nearly 500 students across the Gujarat state participated in this competition.

AMA Workshop

Study Enhancement Workshop at AMA by SMPIC

SMPIC organized study enhancement program at AMA on 31st July 2012  on Branding and Advertising, Self Awareness and Success, Goal setting and Power of positive thinking in which fifty students from the institute participated.

Management Lecture Series 2013

As per our tradition, S. M. Patel Institute of Commerce organized  the Management lecture series in the last week of February. The purpose behind organizing such lecture series is to bridge the gap between the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of the students and to cover areas and subjects which are not included in the UG Commerce curriculum but are essential for professional success. Around 250 students participated in this lecture series.

SMPIC organized the Management Lecture Series from February 26 to 28, 2013. The idea behind organizing this series is to bridge the gap between the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of the students. The subjects covered this year will prove to be instrumental in upgrading the skills of the students for a changing world.

On February 26, 2013, Mr. Paresh Pandya, a management psychologist, corporate trainer and consultant, spoke on the topic ‘Success is a choice-get success’. He motivated the students to develop a positive attitude, focus on the desired goal and take the necessary steps to be successful. He inspired the students to take responsibility of their actions and pointed out that knowledge, skills, desire and purpose are essential to get success.

On February 27, 2013, Mr. Vivek Randeria, a corporate trainer in the field of soft skills and organizational development, spoke on the topic ‘First step to the corporate world’. He discussed at length all the nuances involved in getting into the corporate arena including self-evaluation, qualities required to achieve  excellence in professional life and hard core realities of the corporate world.

On February 28, 2013, Prof. Nina Muncherji, a management psychologist, corporate trainer and consultant, spoke on the topic ‘Team building’. She explained motivating factors of team building like cohesiveness, shared leadership, conflict resolution and reward. She also emphasized on the importance of team work in an organization and the method of effective team management.

English Club

Bridge Course

SMPIC successfully conducted Bridge Course to develop English Proficiency skills of first year students. 45 students enrolled for the course and given training of English Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking skills. They also appeared for the SCOPE examination at the end of the course.

Personality Development Workshop

More than 150 students participated in three days personality development workshop organized by the English Department of SMPIC on 18th, 21st and 28th Sept. 2012. The speakers of workshop Mr. Vivek Randeria, Ms. Rajika Kacheria and Ms. Ankeeta Rao discussed various topics of personality development like leadership skills, public speaking, youth and goal setting, raising self esteem, balanced diet, grooming, hair and skin care.

Creative Reading Workshop

The English Club of SMPIC organized a three days workshop in the month of August. It was conducted by Ms. Jolly Kotecha.

STATISTICS CLUB

Educational Visit For Students Of Statistics Club Of SMPIC

Orientation program and Industrial visit were organised for the students on 21st September, 2012 by SMPIC Statistics Club. Students got acquainted to use of various statistical concepts used in SPACE SCIENCE at ISRO where as at BEAURO OF ECONOMICS AND STATISTICS they got acquainted to the various statistical tools used for data collection, classification and analysis.

SMPIC Industrial Visit

With a view to provide industry exposure, this year 54 students of our institute were taken to Amul, Anand and Angoor Industries,Vasad on 24th March, 2013 where they had the opportunity to interact with the employees and the management of the industry. They also got the firsthand knowledge of working of the industry.

Career Guidance Seminar and Prize Distribution Ceremony

SMPIC organized Career Guidance Seminar for 12th Std. and undergraduate students on 2nd April, 2013 at GLS Auditorium. Shri CA C. F. Patel sir talked about CA as an attractive career option, Dr. Harish Oza gave information about CS course, Dr. Hitesh Ruparel talked about MBA as lucrative career option, Mr. Chandramauli Pathak informed the students about Entrepreneurship. Around 300 students participated in the seminar. It was followed by Prize Distribution ceremony for the winners of 3rd State Level Accounting Talent Hunt and 2nd State Level Commerce Talent Hunt.
