Para-Academic Achievements

SMPIC Theatre Achievements The winning streak continues…. INT Gujarat Samachar Inter College Drama Competition

‘Tu Ladje Anamika…’a play written and directed by Abhishek Shah and performed by the students of SMPIC, won the ‘Best Play Award’ in one of the most reputed INT and Gujarat Samachar Drama Competition. Devami Pandya of semester IV has won the ‘Best Actress Award’ and Abhishek Shah won the ‘Best Director Award’. Out of five categories, SMPIC won prizes in three categories. SMPIC won the 3^rd Best Play Award for ‘Thank You Mr. Glad’ in 2010-11 and 2^nd Best Play Award for ‘Kaalu Atle Andharu’ in 2011-12. The participants of the play are Meet, Vivek, Asma, Anuja, Devami, Dhara, Dhrumil, Falguni, Dhara, Dishang, Harsh, Kalgi, Krunal, Harsh, Palkesh, Raveena, Riddhish, Sanket, Saryu, Vatsal, Aashish and Sohel.

Veenaveli Inter College Drama Competiton

‘Tu Ladje Anamika…’ won the 2^nd Best Play Award in an inter-college drama competition ‘Veenaveli Drama Competition’ organized by H. K. Arts College on 7^th February, 2013. Devami Pandya of semester VI won the 2^nd Best Actress Award.

FOLK DANCE AND GARBA Sports Club Garba Competition

Smpic won the first prize in Sports Club Garba Competition organized on 15^th October, 2012in which more than 18 Institutional and Professional Garba groups participated. The college was awarded Rs. 7,500 cash prize.

Ellisbridge Gymkhana Garba Competition

SMPIC stood second in Ellisbridge Gymkhana Competition organized on 19th October, 2012.

Gujarat State Level Raas-Garba Competition

SMPIC represented Ahmedabad District at Gujarat Government Raas-Garba Competition. Ahmedabad District represented by SMPIC bagged the 3rd Prize and cash prize of RS. 31 thousand in this competition.

Folk Dance Performances

Kankaria Carnival SMPIC folk dance team performed at Kankaria Carnival on 26th December,2012. The team got the opportunity to perform winning items Nagaru and Raas on the main stage. SMPIC FOLK DANCE team performed at Pandit Dindayal Petrolium University

S. M. Patel Institute Of Commerce was invited to give guest performance and also taught the steps of garba to the foreign delegates at International Conference for Academic Institutions at Pandit Dindayal Petrolium University on 9th January, 2013.

Ahmedabad Mirror Talent Hunt Competition SMPIC students got selected for semifinals in Ahmedabad Mirror Talent Hunt Competition in following events held at GLS campus. 1. WESTERN DANCE AND FASHION SHOW Josh 2012 SMPIC was declared the BEST COLLEGE for the fourth time in succession in Josh 2012 organised by NAEMD on 21^st September 2012. SMPIC bagged the first prize, a trophy and a Cheque of Rs. 51000/- by the Dance India Dance fame judge Master Marzi Pestonjee. The main attraction this year was the Hooting Meter and when ever smpic performed the cheer was so loud that college was also awarded the trophy for the biggest cheer. FINE ARTS Fine Arts Competitions Akshat Jain won the 1st Prize in on the spot painting in Rang Bahar, an inter-college fine Arts Competition organized by GLS Institute of Commerce from 28th to 31st August,2012. Riddhi Dave won the 2^nd prize in poster making Inter College Competition organized by K.K. Shah Jarodwala Maninagar Science college on 8^th January,2013.

Riddhi Dave won the 2nd prize in poster making competition organized by M. P. Arts & M. H. Commerce College for Women on 19th January, 2013.

1.Swimming Ajay Otwaniand Zeel Sanghavi participated in the Swimming Tournament on 8^th August, 2012held at Gujarat Vidhyapith, Ahmedabad. 2.Chess SMPICathletesSankit Bhansali and Riddhish Vora tookpart in the chess tournament held at K.R.Sant Hall, City Campus Ahmadabadon 21^st August, 2012. Sankit Bhansali cleared 6 rounds out of 8 rounds. Riddhish Vora cleared 5 rounds out of 8 rounds. 3.Cross Country Govind Singh participated in the Cross Country Competition held at L. D. Arts College on 14^th August, 2012. 4.Badminton Singles Pratik Parmar secured 2^nd place in Gujarat University Inter College Competition. Doubles Pratik Parmar and Shubham Agraval secured 2^nd place in Gujarat University Inter College Competition. 5.Football In football, SMPIC team reached up to the quarter finals in a competition at St. Xaviers College, Ahmedabad on 10^th September, 2012. 6. Wrestling Mr. Kaivan Dastoor secured 3^rd position in an Inter-College Wrestling tournament held at University Gymkhana on 28^th August, 2012. 7. Boxing Kaivan Dastoor secured the 2nd position in an Inter-College Boxing tournament held at Naroda College on 25^th September, 2012.

8.Tennis

Tennis sports meet was held at Racket Academy, Ahmedabad on 13^th October 2012. Nandini Pandya played up to Semi final in Singles.Nandini Pandya & Priyanka Mahesarveri played up to Semi finalsDoubles.Nandini Pandya was also selected for Gujarat University in tennis.

9.Kabbadi

SMPIC team reached in quarter finals in kabbadi tournament held at L. D. Arts college on 11th September,2012.

10. Table tennis Aman Patel and Moiz participated in table tennis competition held on 15^th October, 2012 at University Gymkhana, Ahmedabad. 11. Volleyball SMPIC participated in Volleyball competition held on 17^thand 18^th October, 2012 at M. G. Science College, Ahmedabad.

12. Cricket Boys Cricket SMPICreached in semi finals in inter college tournament and Jay Shah and Ruchir Desai got selected in Gujarat University team. Girls Cricket For the first time SMPIC participated in inter college girls cricket tournament and qualified for quarter finals which was held at Chimanbhai Institute of Management . Practice session with India and Pakistan Cricket Team Mangalya Majmudar and Het Vyas from our institute got the opportunity to practice with players of Indian and Pakistan team on 27^th and 28^th December in T-20 match.

13. Powerlifting Siddharth Trivedi participated in State Level Power Lifting Championship held at Swaminarayan College, Ahmedabad and secured the 3^rd position.

14. Shooting Harshal Patel participated in 48th Gujarat State Shooting Championship Competition 2012 held at rifle club, Ahmedabad from 21^st September, 2012 to 25^th September, 2012. He won total 5 gold & 1 silver medal.

15. Practice session with India and Pakistan Cricket Team Mangalya Majmudar and Het Vyas from our institute got the opportunity to practice with players of Indian and Pakistan team on 27^th and 28^th December in T-20 match.

AHMEDABAD MIRROR TALENT HUNT 2013 The Talent of SMPIC crowned “The Best” OR Winners of AM Talent Hunt: SMPIC’s Crowning Glory Ahmedabad Mirror organized the city’s biggest inter college Talent Hunt for the students across Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Preliminary rounds were conducted at the college premises and three hundred teams were selected across the two cities for the semi-final round. The semi-final round was held at Vastrapur Amphi theatre on 1^ST March,2013. 25 teams were selected for the finals. SMPIC’s three teams Jaimil Joshi and Group, the Garbo Group and SMPIC Dazzlers were among the finalists. The grand finale of Ahmedabad Talent Mirror Talent Hunt was held at Karnavati Club on 16^th March, 2013, Saturday. On that sassy and jazzy night, among the 25 scintillating performances, the brilliant performances of SMPIC students rocked the night. Entertainment was at its peak and the best three participants were chosen and crowned the best. SMPIC took the honours with the champions – Jaimil Joshi and Group and the 1^st runners – up – Dazzlers. Jaimil Joshi, Asma Qureshi, Plakesh Agrawal, Dhara Bhatt, Dishang Seth and Juhi Panchal presented a poetic play written and directed by the group based on the recent Delhi gang-rape case, along with a sand rangoli simultaneously drawn by Juhi Panchal. The prize of Rs. 1,50,000 and a trophy was given away by the telly actor Siddharth Shukla (Balika Vadhu Fame) and Ahmedabad Mirror Resident Editor Deepal Trivedi. The Dazzlers, Nidhip Shah, Darshin Shah, Chaitanya Patel, Shubham Barot, Ashish Yadav, Megha Nihlani, Prachi Sanghvi, Charmi Khandhar, Divya Asnani, Bijal Shah, Shikha Verma and Shaily Joshi, performed high on energy Bappa Morya number. The prize of Rs. 1,00,000 along with a trophy was given away by singer-writer Devang Patel and Kunjan Patel, director, Gotiz Group. The college has also been awarded with a trophy. The excellent co-ordination and the energy level was a sight to behold. The performances of SMPIC students not only moved and got the audience emotionally involved but left them spellbound.
