ACADEMIC OLYMPIAD 2021

Date: 04th April, 2021.

Highlights: Amidst Chaos and Uncertainties in the Covid Times Faculty Of Commerce(SMPIC) came up with the Novel Idea of Academic Olympiad 2021- A State level Inter School Accounts and Management Quiz contest for std 11 and 12  commerce students from across the state of Gujarat .

This is a State level competition but it received overwhelming response not only from Gujarat state but also far off states like Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi. Around 1300 students from across the state and country enthusiastically registered for the Mega Event.

A mock round was organized on Friday 2nd of April and Final Round of the Olympiad was organized on Sunday 4th of April 2021.Exciting cash Prizes, Trophies and Certificates will be awarded to Winners and all the participants. The Institute believes that these kind of competitions will keep the hunger for knowledge and competitive spirits high among the students.

TOPIC: TALK SHOW ON DYNAMICS OF CAPITAL MARKET AND INVESTOR AWARENESS

Date:  26thMarch, 2021.

Speaker: Mr. Utpal Shah, CDSL.

Highlights: Mr. Utpal Shah started the session explaining the basic requirements for opening a Demat Account. He also explained the fundamentals of Security Markets. He explained the instruments like equity, warrant, ETF etc. He discussed Due Diligence of Investing.  He said that Mutual fund is the most common and moderate way of small investment.  He suggested and motivated students to take active part in Capital Market. He explained the importance of understanding the basics of stock market and right time investment opportunities.

TOPIC: A SCIENTIFIC APPROACH TO ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Date: 27th February, 2021.

Speaker: Dr. Megha Bhatt, Founder-SciKnowTech

Highlights: Dr. Megha Bhatt in a very interesting manner explained scientific approach to entrepreneurship. With the help of practical examples, she demonstrated how a beginner can initiate a start-up. She explained the difference between the terms, idea and innovation. According to her, the two most important things to develop an idea are observation and commitment towards work ethics. With lucid illustrations, she generated interest amongst commerce students for a technical subject like science on the ‘World Science Day’.

TOPIC: THE IMPACT OF BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT ON INDIAN ECONOMY

Speaker: Dr. Shefali Dani, Director of Faculty of Business Administration, GLS BBA

Highlights: Dr. Shefali Dani has shared deep rooted knowledge on the positive and negative impacts of Business Economic Environment on Indian Economy. She has ingrained acquaintances with a crystal clear understanding for the various factors affecting to Business Environment of Indian Economy such as economic conditions, competitions, economic policies, suppliers, technical, political, demographic and socio-cultural etc. She threw light on these factors by citing practical examples of Patanjali, Johnson and Johnson, TATA etc.

TOPIC: AN OVERVIEW OF INDIAN CONSTITUTION

Date: 18th February, 2021.

Speaker: Dr. Mayuri H. Pandya, Director, GLS Law College

Highlights: As a part of curriculum of B.Com. Hons. Program, a session on an overview of Indian Constitution was organized. Along with being a longest written constitution, Dr. Mayuri explained the importance of Indian judicial system which is one of the most organized and unified. She described Indian constitution as rigid as well as dynamic in nature. She discussed the fundamental rights and duties of an Indian citizen by sharing the provisions in a very rational manner. Normally it is difficult to explain the provisions of Indian Constitution, but by very practical and simple examples, she made sure that commerce students understand the nuances very well.
